Sugar Rush: Quick and Easy Buñuelos Stacks
Recently, Anissa fabricated some buñuelos with her mom and brought them in for anybody to try. They were an instant hit around here! SO delicious. They're basically crispy cinnamon sugar goodness, if you lot've never tried them before. They kind of reminded me of the cinnamon crust my grandma used to make for me when I was a kid. Which fabricated me like them even more.
And the fact that information technology was something that her family unit had been making for years and years fabricated it all the more special. Soooo, I asked to share the recipe and here we are. Quick and piece of cake buñuelos stacks for V-24-hour interval and across.
Ingredients (makes 24)
- iii cups of sugar
- 6 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cups of water
- ii piloncilla* (carbohydrate cones)
- 2 packs of 6 inch soft flour tortillas (y'all can buy homemade tortillas from a Mexican grocery)
- 3/4 cups of vegetable oil
- eight 1/two size skillet
- powdered carbohydrate (optional garnish)
*If yous can non find piloncilla use 1 cup of molasses, i cup brown carbohydrate, ii cups water.
Instructions
In a shallow dish mix the cinnamon and sugar together to brand your cinnamon carbohydrate mixture. Set aside.
Then, pour oil in a skillet and heat until it reaches a temperature of 350.
While the oil is heating up, add the water, the piloncilla sugar cones, and a cinnamon stick in a carve up sauce pan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves. Once dissolved turn off the heat.
One time the oil is hot enough, using tongs place one tortilla into the skillet and let the tortilla bubble upwards (virtually 30 secs) then flip, and let sit for some other 30 secs, until both sides are brown. It doesn't take long for the tortillas to cook, in one case done stack on a plate and keep repeating the process for each tortilla.
Next, i tortilla at a time, dip into the syrup mixture and and then place information technology into the cinnamon carbohydrate until coated. One time finished, stack them into a large pile, and add together a petty powdered carbohydrate or water ice cream, if desired. That part is more than for looks than anything else – though I will say, information technology tastes really good with vanilla ice cream.
You can also cut the tortillas into heart shapes (or any other shape), if you want to get festive. Only cut out the middle shapes using a cookie cutter and follow the recipe as normal.
